Hi! I’m James.
Hello, and welcome to my little slice of the Internet. I work for VMware as a solution engineer. A Senior Staff Solution Engineer to be exact. This wordy title basically means that I do a lot of different things. First and foremost I work to support our largest state and local government customers in Phoenix, Arizona. Additionally, I consult with other solution engineers and account teams across the US on public safety solutions. Recently, I have been asked to contribute to a program that guides our products through their process of becoming attested or certified against various compliance guidelines and regulations.
I have a passion for helping others. I frequently coach and mentor others in their journey to further their careers. As a junior in high school, I completed my Emergency Medical Technician certification through a community college that was adjacent to the school. For the next 14 years, I served my community as a first responder. I’ve been a 911 operator and radio dispatcher, firefighter/EMT, and police officer.
Family is a very important aspect of my life. My wife and I have three grown children and now have our first granddaughter. When I’m not pouring myself into my work I enjoy travel and many different outdoor activities including golf, hiking, and 4X4 offroad adventures.
In January of 2022, I was appointed as an Ambassador to the VMware Office of the CTO. The goal of an Ambassador is to act as an extension of the Office of the CTO and be a conduit between our customers and partners, and product teams. Ambassadors contribute their time, knowledge, and abilities to one or more strategic initiatives supporting this ultimate goal.
